Writer's Block & Navel Gazing

When I started this blog, it was always intended to be something I did for pleasure - a fun way of recording what was happening in my world so I'd not forget the good stuff.  That other people would enjoy reading about Abu and the rest of the crew honestly came as a bit of a surprise.

It's been a while since I've added a post, but that's okay, since I'm now back in writing mode there is HEAPS to talk about.

For me Writer's Block isn't about not knowing what to write, my problem is that I see snapshots of events all around me, and I become so overwhelmed by choice I end up writing nothing at all.

Today is Wednesday, the day of the week known by many as 'Hump Day'. In my world, Wednesday is 'Deep Day' - the day you find yourself thinking about the meaning of life, or discussing the really big issues with your friends and family.  You can't plan a 'Deep Day' session, they simply sneak up on you.

'Deep Day' has been around since the late 1980's when it was discovered by a group of (slightly deranged) advertising copywriters. Judy, Aidan & myself gave the phenomenon its name, and since then we've shared the concept with an increasing circle of bewildered people.  I guess it must seem a little weird when you're in the depths of a conversation and someone - usually me - suddenly yells  "Oh my god - it's Deep Day!"

What I've learnt since my last post;

1. How to dispatch roosters
2. How to cope with eating the roosters you've dispatched
3. That every farmer needs a dog

Happy Deep Day World!
