Naming the Frizzle

Not long after successfully bidding on my first lot of Trade Me chickens, The Boss and I had a discussion about what to name them.

My original idea of old ladies names; Delores, Ethel, Madge etc didn't go down well at all.  We agreed that they'd be named alphabetically and there had to be a theme.  After I vetoed car brands (who on earth would want a chook called Ford), we both said "Nah" to an animal theme, then decided on fruit.

Consequently we have Apple, Banana, Cherry, Doris Plum, Elderberry, Figgy the flighty bantam, Grape, Honeydew, Iceberg (I used some creative licence on that one) and Juniper.

Now we're adding three new additions to our brood, including the little Frizzle Rooster.  Since I'm up to the letter K, the next two are Kiwifruit and Lychee, so the Frizzle's name should begin with an 'M'.  He's definitely NOT a Mandarin or even a Mushroom.  I was leaning towards Mocha because of his colouring, but that still wasn't quite right.

Last night the problem was solved, not by The Boss or myself, but by a friend.  Her first response upon seeing him was "Oh my god, he looks just like a pinecone!"

To hell with the rules - Pinecone it is.

What I've learnt today:
1.  Kune kune piggles 1 - Electric Fence - Nil
2.  Reminder to self: the third bottle of Central Otago wine that seems like a good idea at midnight, was not such a good option when Abu the Roo reminds you it's time to get up next morning.
